Three players from Katy ISD earned Class 6A Blue Bell/Texas Sports Writers Association Baseball All-State honors on Friday for their efforts this spring in a strong year for Katy ISD baseball.

Cinco Ranch had two named to the team, with Lucas Franco earning a second team nod and Brock DeYoung being named honorable mention and Katy had one named to the team, as Connor Udland earned honorable mention honors on the team.

Franco and DeYoung were two of the biggest leaders in the clubhouse for a Cinco Ranch team that won its second straight District 19-6A Championships and went three rounds in the playoffs. Cinco had a record of 27-8-4 and made it to the third round of the playoffs for the second straight year.

Udland was one of the biggest keys to Katy’s success this year. The junior University of Houston commit had a breakout season and was named the district’s MVP for his efforts. He cemented himself as the ace of the Tigers staff throughout the year and helped Katy reach the third round of the playoffs for the third straight year, with Katy finishing with a record of 25-12 and second in District 19-6A.

Tomball teammates C.J. Sampson and Cade Arrambide earned co-players of the year honors for the 6A after leading the Cougars to a state title and Tomball coach Doug Rush was named the classifications coach of the year. Sampson was 14-0 with a .75 ERA while Arrambide, who was named the Texas Gatorade Player of the Year.
