Heather Burgess, chemistry teacher at Taylor High School, has received the ACS CHED Southwest Regional Award for Excellence in High School Teaching from the American Chemical Society, Katy ISD announced in a November 11 post on the district’s Facebook page.
With 33 years in education, including 28 at Taylor, Burgess has inspired generations of students to see the relevance of chemistry in everyday life. Her leadership, service and passion for science have made a lasting impact on both students and colleagues, the post said.
She was honored last month at the 76th Southeastern and 81st Southwest Joint Regional Meeting of the American Chemical Society.
