Stanley R. Oldham passed away peacefully on Sunday, February 23, 2020 in Katy, Texas. Stanley was born on October 2, 1949 and raised in Samnorwood Texas by mother Helen Oldam Parker, and Albert Oldham, and younger brother Gary Oldham.

Stanley was a jack-of-all-trades. He grew up a west Texas cowboy and farmer before attending and graduating with an associate’s degree in auto mechanics. In his youth, he spent many years involved in sports, FFA, water skiing, drag racing and motorcycles. Stanley met his wife, Julia, in Waco, Texas and they married on August 5, 1972. They started their family and moved to Amarillo, Texas, where he worked as an auto mechanic. In 1986, they moved to Katy, Texas where they built the home they lived in for 35 years. Stanley continued a successful automotive career in Waller and Katy Texas.

Stanley was a hardworking and talented mechanic that many came to trust and rely on. Stanley always believe it was most important what was “under the hood” and his character reflected that as he served his customers. Stanley had many partners and friends in his racing and automotive career. Stanley was known in the community for sharing his skills including house construction service projects, he could build or repair just about anything, and would go out of his way to help those in need.

Stanley was also very creative and liked working with stained glass, making furniture, and creating useful time saving inventions. Other than work, Stanley loved to share his talents in the kitchen. Stanley was known for his Texas sized delicious cookies, cobblers, and buttermilk biscuits! He loved nothing more than to share his culinary talents with his great church community at Holy Covenant United Methodist church of Katy where he was a member for 39 years. He was known for greeting, cooking, service, teaching, fixing, and who can forget he enjoyed a good prank now and again!

At the age of 66, Stanley retired and enjoyed many wonderful retirement trips with Julia and friends and could be found tinkering around the garage, helping at the church, or fishing with the guys!

Stanley is survived by his wife, Julia Oldham of Katy, Texas; mother, Helen Oldam Parker of Hollis, Oklahoma; brother, Gary Oldham of Samnorwood, Texas; children, Marshall Oldham of Niagara Falls, New York and Ashley Niemi of Katy, Texas; and grandchildren, Austin Oldham and Brayden Niemi. Stanley is also survived by step siblings, Delores Parker Burch, Miral Parker, and Doug Parker.

The family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday, February 29, 2020 at Holy Covenant United Methodist Church, in Katy, where a celebration of Stanley’s life will be held at 2 p.m., with Rev. Fred Willis officiating. Refreshments and shared memory time will follow in the fellowship hall afterward.

Funeral services held under the direction of Schmidt Funeral Home.
