St. John XXIII College Preparatory marked a milestone on September 21 as they hosted a Groundbreaking Ceremony for an expansion project. The ceremony, which drew students, parents, alumni, faculty, staff, and friends of the school, showcased the school's strong community support.

The cornerstone of this endeavor is the construction of a state-of-the-art gymnasium addition, set to include a modern weight room, public stadium restrooms, and a versatile studio/multi-purpose space. This expansion aligns with the school's overarching mission and is a pivotal component of the Pillars and Cornerstones Campaign. It is aimed at elevating operational efficiency and enriching the overall educational experience.

The groundbreaking for the gymnasium addition was a joyous event, marked by a sense of unity and excitement among the SJ23 Community. SJ23 Principal, Joseph Noonan, expressed his enthusiasm, saying, "This will be a great day for our school. These new facilities will be of great help to us in providing our students with the best possible education and spiritual formation."

Construction of the expanded gym space is anticipated to be completed in approximately four months, heralding the beginning of a new chapter for SJ23. The school's commitment to excellence, both academically and spiritually, is evident in this ambitious expansion project.

The gymnasium project is just one aspect of the broader Pillars and Cornerstones Campaign, which encompasses a series of significant upgrades for the campus. Plans are underway for the expansion of the school's cherished Chapel, sports field, and lighting improvements, as well as enhancements to the Student Center.

Of particular importance is the expansion of the Chapel, a priority project for the school. Designed to meet the spiritual needs of students and provide a serene space for liturgy and worship, this project is being meticulously planned. Renowned architect, Rafael Morales, of Jackson & Ryan Architects, is leading the design efforts. He is receiving valuable input from students, parents, faculty, and benefactors to create a special space.
