The Sugar Land Skeeters got off to a rough start on their 10-game road trip last week, dropping two of three to the High Point (N.C.) Rockers, but rebounded in New Jersey against the Somerset Patriots, taking two of three.
On Aug. 6, Troy Scribner pitched 7 2/3 innings, giving up a solo shot in the seventh, to lead the Skeeters to a 3-1 victory. D.J. Peterson belted a home run in support. The next night Anthony Giansanti recorded a home run and a stolen base, but it wasn’t enough as the Rockers came back with four runs late to win 9-8. The Rockers took the rubber game 5-0 utilizing four home runs.
The Skeeters vented their frustrations against the Patriots, ripping them 8-0 with home runs by Denis Phipps, Zach Borenstein, and Peterson. The slugfest continued on Saturday as Giansanti, Peterson, and Jason Martinson homered and Phipps and Albert Cordero each get a pair of RBIs in the 10-2 victory. The Skeeters hit seven doubles Saturday, which tied for the most in a single game from an Atlantic League team this season. The York Revolution hit seven doubles on June 18 against the Skeeters at Constellation Field.
In Sunday’s game, the Skeeters held a 2-1 lead going into the seventh inning when Somerset unleashed four runs to take a 5-2 win. The team will finish out the road trip with a four-game series against the Southern Maryland Blue Crabs.

Upcoming
The Skeeters are in the middle of their second 10-game road trip in three weeks. They are currently in a four-game series with the Southern Maryland Blue Crabs. Aug. 16 is Star Wars night, which carries over to Aug. 17 with a Swatson Star Wars bobblehead giveaway.
Skeeter of the Week
D.J. Peterson, a newcomer to the team, hit three home runs last week on the road to help lead the Skeeters to three big wins. His clutch hitting earns him Skeeter of the week honors.
