Seven Lakes led the way in the Texas Girls Coaches Association preseason poll, coming in at No. 1 in Class 6A.
Klein, San Antonio Reagan, Flower Mound and V.R. Eaton rounded out the top five in the 6A poll.
The Spartans finished last season with a 25-1 record and as state champions, winning three sets to one over Klein.
Seven Lakes lost ten seniors to graduation after last season, but does return three three-year letterman.
Along with Klein, other Houston area teams included The Woodlands, which was ranked No. 10 in Class 6A, Fulshear, which was ranked No. 2 in Class 5A and Friendswood, ranked No. 9 in 5A.
The Spartans will start up practice on Aug. 2, with their first match coming on Aug. 10 at Clear Springs. Seven Lakes will open District 19-6A play against Katy High on Sept. 10 in a rematch of last year’s Class 6A Region III final.
