After receiving the Katy ISD Award of Excellence, 17-year-old Rosie Li from Seven Lakes High School was recently awarded the Texas Overall Award of Excellence for Dance Choreography from the PTA Reflections program.
Out of over 875 entries in Texas, only one submission per Division and Arts Category is selected for this honor statewide. Li proudly represents both Katy ISD and Seven Lakes High School PTA with this distinction as the first Katy ISD student to hold this state title. Additionally, at the national level, Li was one of only five students nationwide to receive the Award of Merit, out of more than 850 advancing entries. Her original dance choreography is titled "I am Human,” and through her dancing, she hopes to encourage youth to embrace their imperfections, she told the Katy Times in an email interview. “In everyday life and especially dance, there are often expectations for being perfect, but I like to explore the quality of movement, which is what I enjoy most about dance,” she said.
