Seven Lakes resumes student clubs, requiring signed permission from parents

Posted

Student clubs are apparently back on track at Seven Lakes High School, following a temporary pause implemented by school officials in early August.

In its August 13 e-newsletter, the school notified parents that all students participating in a club will need to submit a signed consent form to their club sponsor. No electronic signatures will be accepted. Students will need a separate consent form for each club they are a part of.

Seven Lakes High School had previously announced in its August 6 e-newsletter that the school was temporarily suspending all student-led clubs on campus until further notice, while school leadership awaited guidance from Katy ISD following the passage of SB12 by the state legislature. The bill introduced new requirements for student clubs, particularly those not officially sponsored by the school.
