Two weeks ago, the Sealy FFA Officer Team represented Sealy’s chapter at the Texas FFA State Convention held in Fort Worth.

The team members eagerly participated in the intense itinerary of opportunities within the gathering of over 14,000 blue and gold jackets from chapters all across the state.

STATE CHAMPION Spanish Creed Speaker - Alejandro “Alex” Pinales

Texas FFA hosted the invitational event for nearly 100 students from across Texas. Alex advanced to the finals and was named state champion live on stage. He was invited to recite the Spanish version of the FFA Creed once more later in the week at the VIP breakfast for elected dignitaries, corporate sponsors, and the elite of agricultural advocates.

$20,000 Scholarship Recipients - Meghan Hein and Kendall Young

The State Convention served as the official recognition for these young ladies to receive their Texas FFA Scholarships. Each met with their organization at a hosted luncheon and received their scholarship live on stage:

$20,000 San Antonio Livestock Exposition Scholarship - Meghan Hein

$20,000 Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo Scholarship - Kendall Young

Senior FFA Foundation Ambassador - Kendall Young

Kendall submitted her application among over 300 others for Senior Ambassador this spring and was over the moon to be selected. Throughout the week, Kendall played an important role in public relations as well as carrying out the behind the scenes workings of the convention itself.

Texas FFA State Officer Candidate - Meghan Hein

Meghan’s FFA leadership guided her on a path to pursue the immense role of a state officer. Her preparation for the mission reaches far beyond her high school years and to describe the election process as rigorous would be an understatement. Meghan was one of the four candidates from Area XI, and represented Sealy FFA at the state level.

Lone Star Degree Recipient - John Owen

John received the golden key of the State Lone Star Degree, representing the highest degree that can be earned at the state level. John’s cumulative record of FFA involvement over the past three years was recognized as his application advanced through district, area, and state level checks and then awarded during the Lone Star Degree Ceremony Wednesday evening.

Living to Serve - Sealy FFA Officer Team

As the Officer Team landed in Fort Worth, all jumped in at the chance to make a positive impact on the City of Fort Worth while there. Joined by thousands, Sealy FFA officers collected trash at Lake Arlington as well as donated art supplies for the Cook Children’s Hospital in Fort Worth.
