Three Sealy youth athletes traveled to J.B. Wells Arena in Gonzales to take on the Texas Youth Rodeo Association state finals last week, with one cowboy scoring high marks in team roping.
Tanner Tomlinson had a successful rodeo, taking top spots in team roping with partner Kirby Rawlinson of El Campo. The roping duo took second in the first-go with their time of 8.830 seconds, third place in the second-go round with their time of 9.240 seconds and first place in the short-go with their time of 5.555 seconds.
Jaz Tomlinson of Sealy also participated in the state rodeo meet, competing in the junior girls age group. She was timed at 14.553 seconds in goat tying placing 18th in the first-go. Her second go, she finished with a faster time of 12.865 seconds, placing 13th.
Tomlinson no-timed in all her junior girls breakaway runs.
In the senior girls’ age group, Kera Lamb of Sealy no-timed in her first-go of girls breakaway. She was timed at an impressive 2.680 seconds on her second go, placing second that round. Lamb also competed in goat tying, placing 15th out of the 16 participants with her time of 13.660 seconds on her first-go, then finishing in sixth place in the second-go with a time of 9.866 seconds.
