Royal ISD announces 2026–2027 school meal policies and eligibility guidelines

Royal Independent School District announced its school meal policies on July 20 for children served under the National School Lunch Program and School Breakfast Program for the 2026–2027 school year.

Community Eligibility Provision (CEP) Campuses

Royal ISD announced that all district schools—with the exception of Royal Prairie

Elementary—will operate under the Community Eligibility Provision (CEP). Schools

qualifying for CEP serve breakfast and lunch to all enrolled students at no charge ($0)

automatically.


Royal Prairie Elementary Policy & Applications

Families with students attending Royal Prairie Elementary will follow standard income

eligibility guidelines to determine free or reduced-price meal benefits. Starting August 13th,

2026, the campus will begin distributing letters to households regarding these benefits.


Royal Prairie Elementary households can apply easily using the following options:

· Online: Fill out the secure digital application at mealappnow.com.

· Paper: Applications are available at the Royal ISD Administration Building located at

3714 FM 359, Pattison, TX 77466.


Applications may be submitted at any point during the school year. Households receiving

SNAP, TANF, or FDPIR, or families with foster, homeless, migrant, or runaway children, are

automatically eligible for free meals but should contact the district if they do not receive an

automated notification letter. Eligibility determinations may be formally appealed by

contacting Kim Bishop, CFO of Royal ISD, at kbishop@royal-isd.net.
