The small but mighty Royal Independent School District is growing larger and mightier at a more rapid pace than previously anticipated.
The district, which serves the Brookshire-Pattison area, had an enrollment of 2,710 students on August 13, 2025, the first day of school this school year – but currently has an enrollment of 3,132 students as of December 19, according to a December 21 post on the district’s Facebook page. That is an increase of 422 students, or 15.57% increase in enrollment.
A survey done by Population and Survey Analysts (PASA) several years ago projected that the district would not hit that level of enrollment until the end of the 2026-2027 school year, the post said. The district is in the process of getting an updated demographic report for fast-growth enrollment projections over time, according to the post.
A bond issue to build a new high school and to acquire land for future additional schools was passed in the fall of 2025.
