Royal ISD balanced its budge for the first time in four years, during the 2025-2026 school year, the district announced in a June 20 post on Facebook. The district will adopt a balanced budget for the 2026-2027 school year, the past said.
On June 15 at the district’s regular board meeting, the board approved raises for teachers and returning employees and added student outcome stipends, according to the post.
The board also approved increasing employee medical contributions to $375 per employee per month. “This is a $150 increase and one of the most competitive compensation contributions around the state,” the post said.
“Progress is not measured by a single moment—it is built day by day through dedication, innovation, and a shared commitment to success in all areas,” the post said in the post. “Our district continues to move forward and make progress day by day, action by action. We are proud of the accomplishments of our students, educators, staff, families, and community members who work together to create a stronger future. While there is always more work to do, the momentum is clear and the results are evident.”
The district continues to experience rapid growth and a groundbreaking for its new high school was scheduled for June 23, after the Katy Times went to press for this story.
