The Royal High School band has achieved a major milestone, Royal ISD announced in a January 17 post on Facebook.
“Royal ISD is proud to celebrate Rafael Garces, who earned First Chair at the All-State Area auditions and was selected to perform with the 2026 Texas All-State 4A Honor Band at the Texas Music Educators Association Clinic/Convention in San Antonio,” the post said. “This achievement places Rafael among the top student musicians in the state, following a highly competitive audition process involving tens of thousands of students across Texas. His dedication, musicianship, and hard work truly stand out.”
The district also recognized and applauded other All-State Area finalists, whose commitment and growth reflect the strength of Royal ISD’s band program:
· Devin Ruley — Trumpet
· Oliver Vince — Trumpet
· Eduardo Acosta — Tuba
· Mason Martin — Trombone
· Justin Segura — Euphonium
· Christian Solorio — French Horn
“Thank you to our talented students, dedicated directors, mentors, and supportive families who make achievements like this possible,” the post said. “Royal ISD is proud to see our students represent our community on a statewide stage.”
