Ronald Kenneth Ruden was born October 22, 1945 in Joliet, Illinois to Fred Ruden and Esther Hanson Ruden.
He graduated from Joliet Township High School in 1963 and married his High School sweetheart on August 21, 1966 in Joliet, Illinois. They moved to Detroit, Michigan where he began working for Ruberroid Company as a sales representative. Later, they transitioned back to Joliet where he worked for E.K Motor Service, which he later acquired and served as President/Owner. A subsequent move carried Ronald and his family to Irving, Texas where he was Director of Transportation at Arrow Industries for ten years. He worked there until his retirement, upon which he moved to Houston to be near his grandchildren.
A devoted family man, he taught the values of family, hard work and honesty to his children. Most notable was the fact that he attended thirty-five consecutive season-opening games with his son and grandchildren. He was a Rangers fan while in Irving and later an Astros fan upon his retirement. This was an annual tradition of attending the season openers. Ronald loved spending time with his family and fishing with his son and grandchildren on Galveston Bay. He and his wife spent many hours on cruise ships and traveling to distant ports.
Ronald is survived by his wife, Tonita Ruden; son, Todd Ruden and wife Mary Grace and their children (his grandchildren), Weston, Nolan, and Ella Grace; sister, Barbara Nurczyk of Plainfield, Illinois, and numerous nephews and nieces.
Ronald passed away on March 31, 2021.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Fred and Esther Ruden; brothers, Donald and Robert Ruden; sisters, Norma Larson and Lois Demos.
