Richard Wayne Patrick passed away on Sunday, November 24, 2024, at the age of 85 in Mexico Missouri. Richard was a long-time resident of Katy until he moved back to Missouri to become a resident of the veteran’s home in Mexico.

Richard was born on August 10, 1939, in Mexico, the son of Glen F. “Pat” and Mary Evelyn (Kaufman) Patrick. He graduated from Mexico High School and then served in the U.S. Navy, serving four years. Following his military service, Richard was a police officer and fireman for Mexico until joining the Houston Hedwig Fire Department, retiring as Captain at the age of 55.

After retirement, Richard played the guitar in a band for many area nursing homes. He enjoyed deer hunting, was an avid fisherman and he was a member of Friendship Baptist Church of Mexico.

Survivors include one brother, Ronnie Patrick of Mexico; two sisters, Bonnie Mills of Mexico and Glenda Farris of Florida; two daughters, Tammy Smith (Dwayne) Hartegan of Centralia, Cindy Patrick Nelson of Texas, two sons, Ricky (Elaine) Patrick of Katy, Tx, and Brent (Shawn) Patrick of Katy, Texas.
He had 11 grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild; and several nieces and nephews.

Richard was preceded in death by his parents, Pat and Mary Patrick, & wives (Betty, Kay, & Karen).

Graveside services were held at 1:30 p.m. on Friday, December 6, at East Lawn Memorial Park in Mexico, Missouri. Memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society. They may be sent in care of Arnold Funeral Home, 425 S. Jefferson Street, Mexico, MO 65265.
