Katy is facing possible severe weather tonight according to an alert sent out by the City of Katy Office of Emergency Management. Heavy rains could bring flooding to some roadways in the area and residents are encouraged to remain at home, the notice said.
“According to the National Weather Service, severe weather is expected across southeast Texas Friday afternoon and evening as a cold front moves through the area,” the message said.
Thunderstorms are possible and the strongest storm chances are between 2 p.m. and 9 p.m. with hail, strong winds and isolated areas of heavy rain a probability.
Through the weekend:
The National Weather Service also advises that the area will see a low of 58 tonight with 5-10 mph winds. There is a 70% chance of rain with a possibility of as much as two inches of rain.
Saturday will see a chance of showers in the morning and possible thunderstorms after 12 p.m. and a 100% chance of rain. The low for the day is expected to be 61 degrees Fahrenheit.
Sunday may see showers throughout the day and is expected to be mostly cloudy with a high near 76. Winds will come in at 5-10 mph accompanied by a 50% chance of rain.
