Family members and friends cheered, clapped, laughed and gave celebratory waves for their Katy Independent School District graduates from the stands of the Merrell Center at 6301 S. Stadium Lane in Katy on Wednesday, August 27. The 2025 summer commencement ceremony was a night of celebration for 68 students and their guests, as the graduates took the next step towards higher education, careers, technical school or military service.

In addition to honoring graduates, district leaders recognized the people who played important roles in supporting and preparing these future leaders for the big day.

“Tonight’s graduates are officially a part of the Katy ISD legacy,” Katy ISD Assistant Superintendent for School Leadership and Support Emily Craig said. “We recognize and celebrate their dedication and hard work. The district honors them and the parents, guardians, educators, coaches and siblings who helped make this day possible.”

These students exemplify Katy ISD’s mission to, together with family and community, provide unparalleled learning experiences designed to prepare and inspire each student to live an honorable, fulfilling life – to create the future, the district said in an August 27 press release.
