School supply drive

KBR Towing Service and Crosby Towing are sponsoring a school supply drive to benefit students of the Sealy ISD. Items will be collected through Aug. 7. Donations may be dropped off at Bumbera’s Performance, Skate Texas, Herrera’s Mexican Restaurant, and Fitness FX. Item needed include pencils, notebooks, backpacks, pens, rulers, glue, crayons, folders, staples, colored pencils, erasers, spiral notebooks, flash discs, calculators, manila papers, etc.

Lions Sealy Dance Club

The Lions Sealy Dance Club will hold a dance on Saturday, Aug. 3, at the Sealy American Legion Hall with the Kreneks providing the music from 7:30-11 p.m. Barbecue on bun with chips being provided by Friends of the American Legion from 6:30-7:30 p.m. A $5 donation for the meal will benefit the Dance Club.

Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church of Frelsburg

Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church of Frelsburg will hold its annual festival on Sunday, Aug. 4, at the church located 10 miles north of Columbus off FM 109, at 1031 Church Lane. The day begins with Holy Mass at 8:45 a.m. and the Traditional Latin Mass at 12:30 p.m. A meal of fried fish, buttered potatoes, hush puppies, coleslaw, pinto beans, bread, pickles and tea will be served at 11 am. Meal tickets are $11 for a large plate and $7 for a small plate. There will be live music, games, auction, and more.

Project Graduation

Texas Master Naturalist class

Sign up now for Fort Bend, Waller counties; Texas Master Naturalist Coastal Prairie 2019 Class. It starts Aug. 20 and concludes in late October. The series includes four evenings on Tuesdays and eight Saturday classes at nature centers in area parks and preserves. The program costs $50 and class size limited to 20. Horticulture seminar

The Horticulture Committee of Austin County will hold a five-hour Horticulture CEU Seminar Friday, Aug. 23, at the Liedertafel Hall in Sealy. There will be a variety of local vendors on site. The conference will offer topics covering a wide range of areas including: fall gardening 101, urban gardening, fruit and nut tree production, lawn and ornamental maintenance, and feral hogs: environmental impact and control. Wreaths Across America

The Sealy Interact Club is selling sponsorships for Wreaths Across America on Saturday, Dec. 14. The wreaths will be placed in Immaculate Conception Catholic Cemetery beginning with a ceremony at 8 a.m. Sponsorship is $15 per wreath.
