New HAWK signal operational near Beck Jr. High

The HAWK signal on Fry Rd near the western portion of the Beck Junior High campus at 5200 S. Fry Road in Katy is now active, according to a June 16 Facebook post by Fort Bend County Precinct 1 Commissioner Vincent Morales. “Please use caution at this crossing,” said the post. Fort Bend County previously installed a HAWK signal on S. Mason Road near Creech Elementary in October 2024. A HAWK beacon (high-intensity activated crosswalk beacon) officially known as a pedestrian hybrid beacon, is a traffic control device used to stop road traffic only as needed, in order to allow pedestrians to cross safely, according to Wikipedia.
