Morrison, Vargas named Co-District MVPs
A terrific year of boys soccer in Katy ISD was capped off with the 19-6A All-District Team, with the district naming co-MVPs for the year, with Seven Lakes’ Aidan Morrison sharing the honors with Cinco Ranch’s Danny Vargas.

Morrison, Vargas named Co-District MVPs
A terrific year of boys soccer in Katy ISD was capped off with the 19-6A All-District Team, with the district naming co-MVPs for the year, with Seven Lakes’ Aidan Morrison sharing the honors with Cinco Ranch’s Danny Vargas.
Morrison, who was named the district’s midfielder of the year last season, helped the Spartans to a district, regional and state championship to become the co-MVP. He was a captain and leader of the team even as a junior. Vargas helped Cinco Ranch go on a great playoff run, as the fourth seeded Cougars won twice in the playoffs before falling to an incredible Seven Lakes comeback in the regional quarterfinal round. Vargas was named last years forward of the year in the district and moved up to co-MVP after a very strong senior year.
Paetow’s Jose Dominguez was named the district’s forward of the year after helping the Panthers finish second in district and reach the regional quarterfinals. Jordan’s Juancarlos Santos was named the co-midfielder of the year after helping the Warriors reach the regional semifinals and Gabe Gonzalez from Seven Lakes joined him as co-midfielder of the year. Cinco Ranch’s Ossian Elgstrom was named the defender of the year while Seven Lakes’ Ben Aviles Vera was named the goalkeeper of the year. Tompkins’ freshman Eloy Ferrer rounded out the superlative awards by being named the newcomer of the year.
Seven Lakes and Paetow led the way with first team members, as both placed four players, while Jordan and Cinco Ranch had three players each named to the first team, Taylor and Tompkins both placed two players on the first team while Morton Ranch, Mayde Creek and Katy had one player each on the first team.
