Soccer season is back and with it comes one of the biggest boys tournaments in the state in the Mojo Showcase.
The tournament, hosted by Katy ISD, brings together great teams from throughout the state all of which will come together this Thursday-Saturday to compete at Katy ISD high schools and both Rhodes and Legacy Stadium.
The annual tournament was renamed in 2016 to honor Tompkins head coach Tom Jones daughter, Morgan, who died in August 2015 following a year-long battle with Cancer. Mojo was Morgan’s nickname, consisting of the first two letters of her first and last name and the tournament is used each year to remember her strength and fight.
Every Katy ISD school will compete in the tournament. They will be joined by very strong ranked teams in Region III including Ridge Point, Klein Forest, Memorial, Strake Jesuit, Clements, Bridgeland and North Shore.
Seven Lakes comes into the year ranked as the top team in the greater Houston are by Lethal Enforcer Texas High School Soccer, as the Spartans carry high expectations, bringing back a wealth of talent after finishing last season in the state semifinals.
Tompkins is ranked No. 5 in the Houston area, while Cinco Ranch is ranked No. 13 and Jordan is ranked No. 19.
