Loren “Dean” Dolph, 84, of Katy, Texas passed away Thursday, December 15, 2022 in Cedar Park, Texas. He was born to the late Loren Otis Dolph and Mary McGinnis Dolph, in Maryville, Missouri. Dean spent his childhood years raised and surrounded by loving family in Kansas. He graduated from Oskaloosa High School in 1956. He was drafted into the Army in 1960 and served 2 years with the 1st Infantry Division, “The Big Red One,” based in Fort Riley, Kansas. He worked as a Research Technician at Shell Oil from 1958 until his retirement in 1999.
He began his work for Shell in Long beach, California, where he met his former wife, Betty “Lynne” Bechtel and they had two children. When Shell opened their Houston Westhollow Technology Center, Dean was transferred and relocated his family to Katy, Texas in 1975. He happily remained settled in Katy and married Martha B. Dolph in 2003. Dean was a passionate fan of basketball, especially the Los Angelas Lakers and the Houston Rockets, and spent a number of years coaching for the Katy Youth Basketball Association. He also enjoyed his time as an active member of the Houston Popular Rotocraft Association and frequently enjoyed road trips to Gyrocopter Fly-Ins at airports across the U.S.
Dean is survived by his wife, Martha Dolph; and his two daughters; Traci Hickman and her husband, Steve of Jonestown, Texas and Amy Leonard and her husband, Kevin of Dawsonville, Georgia; grandchildren, Jessica Hickman, Rebecca Berger and husband Ethan, and Kyle Hickman; his sister Caryn Hill of Bennett, Colorado; his nieces, Erin Dolph of Topeka, Kansas and Dawn Sook of Cumming, Georgia, and nephew, Ian Dolph, of Lago Vista, Texas. He was preceded in death by his father, Loren Otis Dolph in 1988, his mother, Mary Dolph in 2004, brothers, Norman, Stanley and sister, Carol.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, January 21, 2023 10:00 AM at Venture Christian Church in Katy, TX.
The family wishes to thank the staff at Cedar Pointe Health and Wellness of Cedar Park, Texas for their love and care of Dean during the last year of his life as well as his at-home caregivers, Cora Bock, Ronda Gabriel and Janice Lewis.
