Lonie Lee Michaelis, 99, beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother passed away peacefully on May 27, 2019. Lonie was born March 4, 1920, in Cat Spring, Texas, to Jerry and Minnie Skalak. She was raised and attended school on Cat Spring and was a member of St. John Lutheran Church. On Dec. 9, 1939, she was united in marriage to Eldert Michaelis, where they spent their lives farming and running “Our Place” in Cat Spring for a number of years before retiring. She enjoyed hunting, fishing, gathering with friends, playing bingo and Skip-bo.

Lonie is survived by her three daughters, Linda Petras and husband Daniel, Cindy Daly and husband Michael, and Sandra Haney; grandchildren Suzanne Wright and husband Sean, Jennifer Petras, Zach Haney, Adrienne Haney, and Bridget Daly; her great-grandchildren Tristan and Ethan Wright, and Jacob Blom; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Jerry and Minnie Skalak; husband, Eldert, and sister, Jeanette Bodungen.

In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to St. John Lutheran Church of Cat Spring, American Cancer Society, Cat Spring Volunteer Fire Department, or Cat Spring Agricultural Society.

Funeral services were held Wednesday, May 29, 2019, at St. John Lutheran Church of Cat Spring with interment at St. John Lutheran Cemetery. Services were under the direction of
