Ms. Corporate America South Texas has announced the official crowning of Lauren McGrew-Hitzhusen as Ms. Corporate America Katy, Texas 2027. She will represent the Katy community at the upcoming Ms. Corporate America South Texas State Competition, taking place April 8–10, 2027, in Bay City.

As a member of the 2027 class of titleholders, McGrew-Hitzhusen joins an inspiring sisterhood of women who embody leadership, confidence, professional excellence, and a commitment to making a meaningful difference in their communities, the organization said.

“Lauren's crowning marks the beginning of an exciting journey as she prepares to represent Katy on the state stage,” the announcement said. “Throughout her reign, she will have opportunities to build meaningful connections, champion causes close to her heart, and serve as an ambassador for her community.”

McGrew-Hitzhusen, who holds a master's degree in publishing from New York University, is an editor with over a decade of experience. Her past editorial work includes Valiant Entertainment--where she assisted on the Eisner-nominated series Faith and edited both Valiant High and Britannia, among other titles--and Mad Cave Studios, where she was the senior editor for their young adult graphic novel imprint, Maverick. There, she worked on dozens of titles--including Stonewall Honor recipients, Ringo Award-, and Harvey Award-nominees, Indie Book Award winners, and USA Today Bestsellers--with a focus on producing books that had queer and diverse representation for teens. McGrew-Hitzhusen has been a full-time editorial freelancer since December 2025 and works with a variety of clients across comics/graphic novels, prose, and children's literature, with the same focus on literacy for young adults and children.

“I want to continue to spread the power of literacy through comics and encourage kids to read,” said McGrew-Hitzhusen. “Reading was such a powerful thing for me growing up – I wouldn’t be who I am today without reading!”

McGrew-Hitzhusen moved to the greater Katy area in 2023 and resides in the Bear Creek area. She attends First Christian Church in Katy where she volunteers at their pumpkin patch.

Ms. Corporate America South Texas is a newly established state organization dedicated to celebrating the achievements of women in business, corporate leadership, and community service. The 2027 State Competition will bring together distinguished delegates representing cities, towns, and counties throughout South Texas. Over three days, these women will showcase their professional

accomplishments, personal journeys, leadership abilities, and commitment to service as they pursue the coveted state title.
