City and county-level leaders were just sworn in after a long election cycle in 2020, but in a democracy, elections are ever-present. Several positions are now up for grabs in the May elections facing the Katy area. Below are the positions open at the city and county levels in the Katy area. Candidates must file to be on the ballot no later than Feb. 12, 2021 at 5 p.m. per the Texas Secretary of State’s Office.
CITIES:
City of Katy:
Council Member Ward A
Council Member Ward B
City of Brookshire:
Mayor
Alder Person 1
Alder Person 2
City of Fulshear:
Council Member District 1
Council Member District 4
Council Member District 5
At-Large Councilmember
City of Pattison:
Council Member Position 3
Council Member Position 4
Council Member Position 5
SCHOOL DISTRICTS:
Katy ISD:
Trustee Position 6
Trustee Position 7
Royal ISD:
*No Royal ISD trustees will have terms expire in 2021, so RISD will not have trustee positions on the ballot.
COUNTIES:
*Fort Bend and Harris counties elected their new commissioners for the Katy area in November 2020. Waller County Commissioner for Precinct 4 Justin Beckendorf has two years remaining in office. As a result, no commissioners elections will be on the ballot for the Katy area.
