An exemplary group of individuals from Texas were selected to receive the Honorary American FFA Degree at the 98th National FFA Convention & Expo in Indianapolis, IN, on October 31.
Among the recipients was Ashlee Laird of Katy, according to a November 7 press release from the organization. Laird taught at Katy ISD previously and now is on staff for Texas FFA.
This prestigious award is given to those who have shown exceptional dedication to advancing agricultural education and FFA through outstanding personal commitment at the state and National Level, the press release said. The National FFA Organization works to enhance the lives of youth through agricultural education.
“Without the efforts of highly dedicated individuals, thousands of young people would not be able to achieve the success that, in turn, contributes directly to the overall well-being of the nation,” the release said.
The Honorary American FFA Degree is an opportunity to recognize those who have gone beyond valuable daily contributions to make an extraordinary long-term difference in the lives of students, inspiring confidence in a new generation of agriculturists. Members of the National FFA Organization’s board of directors approved the nomination.
Seventeen individuals were celebrated during an onstage ceremony. All recipients received a plaque and medal, and their names will be permanently recorded as recipients of this exceptional honor.
