The biennial University Interscholastic League reclassification and realignment for the 2026-27
and 2027-28 school years was released Feb. 2 for football, basketball, and volleyball. The new
alignments, established by enrollment figures submitted to the UIL by its member schools in
October, will serve as the football districts for the next two school years. The alignments for
all remaining sports and academic contests will be released no later than April 1, 2026,
according to a press release from the UIL.
The UIL has posted the 2026-2028 reclassification and realignment policies and procedures on
the UIL website at http://www.uiltexas.org/alignments.
The UIL released the conference cutoff numbers prior to releasing the full realignment. These
numbers provide the range of enrollment for each of the six conferences, including the
divisional cutoffs for football. The conference cutoff numbers are as follows:
· 6A 2215 and above
· 5A 1305 – 2214
· 4A 550 – 1304
· 3A 246 – 549
· 2A 105 – 245
· 1A 104.9 and below
Katy ISD’s nine largest high schools – all but Freeman High School – remained in a single district but the district number changed from 19 to 22.
