Step back in time and explore the rich history of Texas pioneers at the 38th Annual Katy ISD Folk Life Festival.
Come to the district’s Kenneth D. Welch Outdoor Learning Center on Saturday, April 6, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. for a day filled with exciting activities, interactive presentations, and a glimpse into the lives of early Texas settlers. From hands-on demonstrations – including soldier re-enactments, blacksmithing, and quilting/spinning and weaving -- to immersive exhibits, there's something for everyone to enjoy. Farm animals, rag doll making, arts and crafts and pioneer games will also be featured, along with displays on Native American culture and a Texas Cowboy camp. During the free event, visitors can enjoy the OLC facility as they walk the nature trails, visit the ponds and see the exhibits in the science and history classrooms. Chick Fil A will provide concessions.
The Outdoor Learning Center is located west of the Katy ISD Educational Support Complex at 6301 S. Stadium Lane in Katy. For more information, visit katyisd.org/Page/4278.
