Houston Astros pitcher Justin Verlander unleashes a pitch during Wednesday’s game against the Milwaukee Brewers at Minute Maid Park. Verlander threw a personal-best 15 strikeouts across seven innings but gave up three home runs in the 14-inning marathon that ended with the Brewers on top 6-3. The Astros set a club record with 24 strikeouts in the game utilizing seven pitchers. Despite the loss and playing without three of the team’s marque players – Jose Altuve, Carlos Correa, and George Springer – the Astros still hold a nine-game lead in the AL West and at 46-23 have the best record in the Majors so far.
