Katy’s Connor Udland was named the District 19-6A MVP on Tuesday, putting a strong ending note to the season for one of the best juniors in the Houston area after a terrific season.

The junior pitcher and first baseman helped lead Katy to the second seed out of district and a tie for the best record in Katy ISD. He became the Tigers ace throughout the year and was instrumental in the team’s success. He was joined on the superlatives list by sophomore teammate Ashten Ballew, who was named the district’s co-newcomer of the year. The shortstop cemented himself as Katy’s leadoff hitter throughout the season and helped the Tigers reach the third round of the playoffs.

Ballew shared the co-newcomer of the year honors with Tompkins’ Nic Piazza. The sophomore outfielder and first baseman firmly put himself in the Falcons starting lineup this year and helped Tompkins secure a playoff berth and a second round appearance, chipping in with both his bat and his glove in. good year for Tompkins.

Cinco Ranch led the way on the District 19-6A first team, placing six players on the first team after clinching a district title and going three rounds deep in the playoffs.

Sophomore catcher Dylan Muniz was named the first team catcher, while Zach Franco took first team honors at first base, Brock DeYoung took first team honors at shortstop and Lucas Franco was named to the first team at third base. Josh Morelli was named to the first team as a starting pitcher and Thomas Guy made the first team as a relief pitcher. Katy followed with four players named to the first team. Sutton Hull was named as a second baseman, AJ Atkinson was named to a team as an outfielder, Cade Nelson earned first team honors as a starting pitcher and Arvey Huerta was named to the team as a relief pitcher.

Taylor, which finished fourth in district and reached the bi-district round, placed three on the first team. Carlos Cardozo was named to the first team as an outfielder, Bryce Krenek earned first team honors as a starting pitcher in his sophomore year and Christian Jaquay was named to the first team as a relief pitcher.

Tompkins placed two on the first team in Gavin Brewer at designated hitter and Hudson Melaerts at starting pitcher. Paetow also placed two on the first team in utility player Victor Salazar and outfielder Maddox Prentice. Seven Lakes placed one on the first team in outfielder Carter Nannini and Jordan also had one player named to the first team in relief pitcher Eddie Buroz.

For the second team, Jordan’s Nolan Dusek was named the catcher, Jordan’s Luis Vera made the team at first base, Cinco Ranch’s Karsten Kleiweg and Seven Lakes were both named the second baseman of the second team, Taylor’s Chase Marshall made the team as a shortstop and Tompkins’ Ian Palacios rounded out the infield at third base. Mayde Creek’s BJ Lumkins, Taylor’s Zach Larsen, Seven Lakes’ Max Greathosue and Tompkins’ Cooper Markle were named to the team as outfielders, Cinco Ranch’s Luis Gomez made the team as the designated hitter and the position players were rounded out by Morton Ranch’s Isaac Cantu and Taylor’s Alex Satterfeld were named to the team as utility players.

Six starting pitchers were named to the second team, led by Katy’s Aaron Brashear while Jordan’s Thomas Eugate, Morton Ranch’s Zane Heiliger, Cinco Ranch’s Ethan Muniz, Seven Lakes James Levin and Paetow’s Camden Phillips also earned the honors. At relief pitcher, Seven Lakes’ Collin Mills, Jordan’s Owen Wendt, Jordan’s Sam Coraspe and Paetow’s Jacob Rivera were named to the team.

Paetow led the honorable mentions with five selections, Elijah Chisam, Matthew Scott, Charles Radley, Yarel Delgado and Adniel Quieles Torres were named to the team. Cinco Ranch placed four on honorable mention in Drew Tureau, Paul Acosta, Connor Ficarra and Brayden Hodge and Tompkins also placed four on honorable mention in Braden Foor, Ryan Ratajczak, Aidan Corey and Chase Simon. Katy had three named honorable mentions, Jeremy Mazariegos, Carlos Morales and Blake Davila and Jordan also had three named honorable mention in Bobby Richardson, Juan Diego Ortigoza and Cole Keppler. Seven Lakes had three selections in Christian Villamizar, Tyler Berra and Riley Sherowski. Mayde Creek had two named honorable mention, Drew Desormeaux and Noah Villegas, Morton Ranch also placed two in Kelvin Malone Jr. and Jerry Gutierrez. Taylor rounded out the team with two more selections as honorable mentions in Pete Dworaczyk and Davidenko Rodriguez.
