Dallas College Brookhaven’s Aidan Corey was chosen as the National Junior College Athletic Association Division III Player of the Week, the college announced in a May 14 press release.
A freshman third baseman from Katy and graduate of Tompkins High School, Corey went 7 for 10 (.700) with a home run, double, two runs scored and a pair of walks as the Bears swept then-No. 3 Dallas College Eastfield in the final series of the regular season last week. He was 4 for 4 with a solo homer in the first victory of the three-game set. He collected two hits, including a double in the Game 2 win. Corey also had a hit in the series finale win.
Entering this week’s postseason play, Corey was hitting .297 with five home runs, 10 doubles, a triple, 39 RBI and 10 stolen bases.
No. 13 Brookhaven (33-24) will play No. 8 Dallas College Richland (32-22) in the NJCAA Division III South Central District Tournament 1 p.m. Thursday at Dallas College Eastfield.
