Katy ISD Purchasing Department honored with prestigious Award of merit

Posted

Katy ISD Purchasing Department was among 71 educational organizations across the Lone Star State recognized by the Texas Association of School Business Officials (TASBO) with the 2023 Award of Merit for Purchasing Operations.

Katy ISD met the stringent criteria established by TASBO after demonstrating its professional purchasing operations, its best practices with colleagues as well as documenting the district’s policies and procedures in areas of purchasing operations. The award, which was established in 2009, recognizes school districts and other educational organizations that are committed to following professional standards in the acquisition of goods and services.

“As our nation faces economic struggles across various realms, the Katy ISD Purchasing Department is constantly looking for new mechanisms to efficiently use school funds,” Christopher J. Smith, Katy ISD chief financial officer, said. “Our team is continually thriving to set the standard when it comes to utilizing taxpayer dollars in order to continue offering the world-class education every Katy ISD learner deserves.”

Purchasing department employees were honored during the 2023 TASBO Annual Conference awards reception, held Feb. 15 in San Antonio.
