For 78 years now, the Katy Independent School District Future Farmers of America Livestock Show has provided opportunities for students to develop and showcase their talents in a diverse range of agricultural pathways. Recently, the Katy Rodeo Committee announced that the Katy Rodeo, as well as the affiliated carnival and parade activities, would be postponed due to COVID-19. However, the Katy ISD FFA Livestock Show will go on, with safety protocols in place and limited in-person attendance, at the Gerald D. Young Agricultural Sciences Center.
“Over 400 Katy ISD FFA students have worked very hard throughout the school year for this moment in which they can showcase their projects and possibly have an opportunity at making auction,” said Director of Career & Technical Education Dr. Sarah Martin. “We are so proud of our teachers and students’ resilience. FFA events and activities have continued to provide students with opportunities to grow and develop leadership skills, whether in-person or online. Our students have continued to excel. The Katy ISD Livestock Show will look a bit different this year, however, we guarantee an outstanding event the parents and students will be proud of,” added Martin.
The public can support FFA students by watching the shows, support students via barn sale purchases and student add-ons, and participate in the live auction event via a live stream link, which will be available the day of the event.
