Katy ISD’s Cimarron Elementary, located at 1100 S Peek Rd. in Katy, was one of three Houston-area schools winning extra dollars from Walmart for their PTA. The other two area schools were Sonal Bhuchar Elementary in Missouri City and Galena Park Elementary in Galena Park.
Walmart held a holiday-themed coloring contest for Houston and Dallas elementary schools to earn Walmart gift cards for their PTAs. Qualifying schools earned a $75 Walmart gift card for their PTA just for participating, plus additional chances to earn dollars for having more students participate or having students selected in the top three decorated cards in the market.
In total, Walmart donated $26,800 to over 80 Texas schools during the first-ever “Spread the Joy” program.
The holiday cards decorated by elementary students are on display at a Walmart store local to the school until December 22, when the cards will be delivered to a local hospital, nursing home or senior center to continue spreading the joy.
