Ray and Jamie Wolman Elementary School third grade math and science teacher Haleigh Stavinoha has been nominated for National Life Group’s 2025-26 LifeChanger of the Year award, according to a January 20 press release. National Life Group’s LifeChanger of the Year recognizes and rewards the very best K-12 educators and school district employees across the United States who are making a difference in the lives of students by exemplifying excellence, positive influence, and leadership.

Stavinoha was nominated anonymously, the press release said.

“Stavinoha creates a positive classroom environment by focusing on the small, meaningful details that make students feel comfortable, included, and engaged,” the press release said. “She fosters a sense of community by allowing students to join in simple, shared experiences, like taking off their shoes during class, which builds trust and a relaxed atmosphere.”

Stavinoha’s classroom is filled with fun and purposeful activities to keep students engaged in her lessons. On "Fun Fridays," one of the math stations features a whole-class game like bingo, making learning enjoyable and collaborative. Each morning begins with STEM bins, encouraging socialization, critical thinking, and teamwork from the start of the day.

“Ms. Stavinoha cultivates a space where students feel connected, supported, and excited to learn,” said the nominator.
