The countdown to the first day of school has officially begun as over 300 Katy ISD assistant principals, principals, and department personnel came together for the district’s annual Administrative Leadership Conference at the Merrell Center, 6301 S. Stadium Lane in Katy. The multi-day event signals the start of a new academic year and sets the stage for campus planning, collaboration, and innovation, the district said in a July 23 press release.

KISD Superintendent Ken Gregorski opened the conference with remarks highlighting the district’s long-standing tradition of excellence. He reflected on Katy ISD’s continued success, noting the district’s strong academic performance of its students, who continue to outperform their peers statewide on STAAR assessments, as well as its superior financial standing in the state of Texas.

“As we look ahead to a new school year, we do so with purpose,” said Gregorski. “Katy ISD’s reputation is built on strong leadership at every level, a commitment to students, and an unwavering focus on continuous improvement.”

This year’s conference focused on several timely and critical topics, including:

· Navigating recent legislation affecting special education

· Enhancing targeted instructional strategies to personalize student learning

· Leveraging data to drive and refine instructional practices

· Continuing to foster a positive staff culture to support the wellbeing of employees and the nearly 97,000 students across the district

As educational leaders, participants collaborated on ways to meet the evolving needs of students while continuing to raise the bar on academic excellence and operational efficiency.

The Administrative Leadership Conference is a cornerstone event for Katy ISD, providing a vital opportunity for campus and department leaders to align around districtwide priorities, deepen their professional practice, and prepare for a successful year ahead, the district said in the press release.
