During the weekend of January 27th the Katy High School Academic Decathlon team competed at the regional competition, placing second in the region which includes all of Katy ISD, Fort Bend ISD, and other west Houston area schools. ”This is the highest place we have ever earned at regionals, and we are currently ranked fifth in the state,” said the Katy Tiger e-News for January 30th.
Connor Courtright earned 3rd place overall in the Honors category and the following students earned individual medals:
· Connor Courtright - 2nd place Art; 1st place Essay; 2nd place, Literature
· Elyse Neves- 1st place Art; 2nd place, Science
· Rayan Hashmi- 3rd place, Literature; 2nd place, Science
· Roger Martinez- 2nd place, Literature; 3rd place, Math
· John Tellez Badillo- 2nd place Speech
Katy FCCLA Advances to State
During the last week of January the Katy FCCLA competed at the region IV Family, Career, and Community Leaders of America (FCCLA) Conference in Galveston. All four students placed in the top five and advanced to the state contest which will be held in April, where they will be competing against the top 25 students in the state.

· Kaylee Speights - Career Investigation 2nd Place
· Hana Purcell - Children in Focus 5th Place
· Olivia Garcia - Children in Focus 5th Place
