Katy grad Wyckoff transfers to Arkansas

Katy grad Wyckoff transfers to Arkansas

The Katy to Arkansas pipeline got even stronger last week, as another former Tiger joined the Razorback’s softball team with Kailey Wyckoff transferring and joining a duo of incoming freshman from the Tigers.

Wyckoff has cemented herself as one of the best young players in college softball over the past two years and she will be joining one of the strongest teams in the nation in Arkansas, which is bringing in the fifth ranked recruiting class in the nation according to Extra Inning Softball.

Wyckoff was the Big 12 Freshman of the Year and a Second-Team All-Big 12 selection in 2023 and was even better this season. In her sophomore season, Wyckoff hit .407 with 12 doubles, seven home runs and 35 RBIs, which earned her First-Team All-Big 12 honors. Her batting average was the best among Texas Tech players and she also led the team with 15 multi hit games and had a steak of 24 games of reaching base while playing catcher, first base, left field and right field.

At Katy, Wyckoff was part of the 2019 state championship team and was also an all state and District 19-6A MVP recipient.

She joins a team that will have two Katy Tigers joining this summer. Cameryn Harrison and Ashtyn Reichardt both signed national letters of intent to play for Arkansas in the spring as both will join hat should be a formidable team. Harrison is ranked as the No. 6 pitcher and No. 8 overall player in the 2024 recruiting class and Reichardt is ranked as the No. 22 player in the nation for the class of 2024.

Arkansas finished 37-18 last season with a 14-10 record in SEC play. The Razerbacks made the NCAA Tournament, but weren’t able to win the regional in Fayetville.

“We’ve put together a remarkable group of student-athletes with this top recruiting class,” said Arkansas head coach Courtney Deifel after signing the teams recruiting class. “I have no doubt they will continue to elevate our program with their level of talent and competitive excellence. Beyond what they do on the field, they are intelligent, charismatic, and will be tremendous representatives of our program, department and state. We couldn’t be more thrilled to add these dynamic student-athletes to our Razorback softball family. The future is bright for our program.”
