Katy graduate Axel Robertson signed to play football at Henderson State University, transferring after a year at Navarro Junior College.
Robertson was Katy’s kicker during the 2021 season in which they reached the state semifinals and won the District 19-6A championship.
Robertson helped Navarro to a 6-4 record and 5-2 conference record as a freshman. Navarro reached the Southwest Junior College Football Conference Semifinals this year, losing a heartbreaker to New Mexico Military Institute, 24-23 to end the Bulldogs season.
Robertson was primarily used as a kicker in his freshman year although he did have a few punts as well. He made four of his nine field goals on the season, good for 44% overall, with a long of 36 yards, while making 33 of his 37 extra points, nailing 89% of his extra point tries and totaling 45 points on the year. Robertson only had two punts on the season, totaling 89 yards for an average of 44.5 yards per punt. Robertson joins a Henderson State team that competes in Division II in the Great American Conference. The Reddies went 8-3 overall last season, including 5-1 at home.
