Captain Michael Garcia of the Willowfork Fire Department’s wife, Michell Flores-Garcia is in the hospital facing complications from COVID-19, according to fellow Willowfork firefighter John Villarreal. To assist the family, the department is hosting a drive-thru barbeque fundraiser at its station located at 24655 Westheimer Parkway in Katy.

“It’s a brisket sandwich sack lunch with a brisket sandwich, chips a drink and condiments and stuff like that,” Villareal said.

Desserts will also be available to purchase and all profits will go to help the Garcias, Villareal said. The lunches will be served drive-thru style he said and will go for $10 for the brisket sandwich. Whole sausage links will also be available for $7. Drinks will be included with the lunch.

Fort Bend Helping Heroes is also helping out. The nonprofit was founded in 2011 and helps first responders facing difficult times. Donations may be made at www.fbhelpingheroescharity.org and any donation with Garcia’s name associated with it will go directly to help the family according to a statement from Willowfork Fire Department.
