Walmart is spreading joy to Houston schools this holiday season, including in Katy and Fulshear. Walmart held a holiday-themed coloring contest for Houston, Austin and Dallas elementary schools to earn Walmart gift cards for their PTAs. In total, Walmart donated over $40,000 to over 170 Texas schools during the 2nd Annual Spread the Joy program. Compared to the inaugural year last year, this is a 116% increase in number of schools participating.
The three winning holiday cards are from these schools; the names of the students were not shared:
· Tom Wilson Elementary, 5200 Falcon Landing Blvd., Katy (Katy ISD)
· Randle Elementary, 5902 Sycamore Ranch Lane, Fulshear (Lamar CISD)
· Greentree Elementary in Kingwood (Humble ISD)
Schools earned a $250 Walmart gift card for their PTA just for participating, plus additional chances to earn dollars for having more students participate or being selected in the top three decorated cards in the market and the winning students themselves earned gift cards too.
The holiday cards decorated by elementary students were on display at a Walmart store local to the school until December 22, when the cards were delivered to a local hospital, nursing home or senior center to continue spreading the joy.
