Jackie Lee Cantwell passed away at his home in Katy, Texas, on January 21, 2022, at the age of 86 years. He was born on December 4, 1935, at his family’s home outside of Cedar Park, Texas, to parents Homer Lee Cantwell and Annie (Henry) Cantwell.
Jackie proudly served our country from 1954 to 1957 in the United States Air Force in the 578th Fighter Interception Squadron as a weapon’s mechanic. In 1958, he began work with the Texas Department of Public Safety, and went on to work for the Bellaire Police Department from 1960 to 1967. On June 25, 1960, he married Christine Winkelman, and had two sons from this union. In 1967, Jackie made the decision to leave the Bellaire Police Department to join Memorial Villages Police Department as a patrol man. He worked up the ranks as a detective, sergeant, and eventually become Assistant Police Chief. After nearly 30 years of dedicated service with Memorial Villages, he retired in 1996. He later worked as an investigator for Clyde Wilson Investigators and Wayne Wicks Security Advisor before retiring once more in 2017.
He is survived by his loving wife of 61 years, Christine Cantwell; sons and daughters-in-law, Jeffrey Lee and Joan Cantwell, and Scott Andrew and Tessie Cantwell; grandson, Jameson Lee Cantwell; brother, J.H. Cantwell; and sister, Mary Linda Hays. He was preceded in death by his parents, Homer Lee and Annie Cantwell; and brother, Raymond Cantwell.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, January 28, 2022, at the Schmidt Funeral Home East Avenue Chapel, with Chaplain Daniel Schramm officiating.
