Investment Group (Spartan), a Colorado-based privately held real estate investment firm specializing in the self-storage industry, today announced September 4 the acquisition of seven Class A self-storage facilities located throughout Houston’s top submarkets. Totaling 463,185 net rentable square feet across 3,497 units, this deal marks Spartan’s single largest purchase in its transaction history.
The purchase includes the acquisition of a site in Katy located at 926 South Fry Road.
“Houston consistently ranks among the top self-storage destinations in the country, and we’re thrilled to enter the market with such a significant investment through this portfolio of properties,” said Scott Lewis, CEO and co-founder at Spartan. “The city’s continued growth played a major role in our decision to return to the area. With a population growing at four times the national average annually, this portfolio of properties is well-positioned to benefit from consistent demand. We look forward to seeing how these facilities contribute to the ongoing development of the greater Houston area.”
These seven facilities are strategically positioned across Houston’s top submarkets in high-income suburbs, including Champion Forest, Eldridge, Katy, Rosenberg, Stuebner, Sugar Land and Summerwood. Bringing Spartan’s total number of facilities in the Lone Star state to 29, the newly acquired properties join the firm’s existing locations in Fort Worth, Huntsville, Tyler, Longview, Dallas, Pecos, Gardendale and Corsicana.
Having acquired 15 properties since the start of the year, the real estate investment firm has expanded its presence in burgeoning secondary and tertiary markets throughout the U.S., including in West Virginia, Nebraska, Northwest Arkansas and the Pacific Northwest, with Houston representing the latest addition to the firm’s growing national footprint.
Spartan’s portfolio of properties in Houston serves as the firm’s latest investment opportunity, currently open to accredited investors. For more information, visit www.spartan-investors.com.
