Martha Lee Moseley passed away peacefully on May 31, 2025, in Katy, Texas, after being surrounded by the love and presence of family and friends. Born Martha Lee Hardy on June 18, 1943, in San Diego, California, to Sam and Edna Hardy, she was just weeks away from celebrating her 82nd birthday.
Martha grew up in Houston, Texas, and graduated from Spring Branch High School in 1961. During her school years, she was a vibrant and social young woman, active in the Dual Education (DE) Club while working at Bilao’s Department Store. She had a zest for life, was known for her warm personality, and built friendships that would last a lifetime.
Following high school, she attended Sam Houston State University, where she met and later married Mike Marley. Together, they welcomed two daughters, Misty and Michele, and lived in several Texas cities before settling back in Houston.
In the early 1970s, Martha began a new chapter of life with her daughters in Houston. She held various administrative roles before finding her professional home at Cardiovascular Associates of Houston, working alongside a renowned heart surgeon. During this time, fate reunited her with Olen Wendell Moseley, her high school crush. They married and made their home in Katy, Texas, where they spent over four decades together.
Martha and Olen’s life was rich with laughter, travel, entertaining friends and family, and their shared love of fishing in Port O’Connor. Martha had a gift for making people feel at home. Her radiant smile and gracious hospitality made any gathering feel special. An inspired cook, she earned the affectionate nickname “The Galloping Gourmet” from Olen. Her talents extended beyond the kitchen—she was an accomplished crafter, painter, and seamstress. Most memorably, she hand-sewed and beaded the wedding dresses and trains for both of her daughters—a true expression of her deep love and creativity.
A devoted animal lover, Martha shared her heart and home with many beloved dogs over the years—Gigi, Nikki, Cassie, Cheyenne, and Chico—rescuing and caring for each with unwavering devotion. She was also a passionate reader, an Elvis enthusiast, and the proud grandmother of four, taking great joy in every photo, update, and milestone from their lives.
Martha’s sense of humor was infectious—quirky, witty, and a little sassy when the moment called for it. Her presence was a gift, and though we grieve her passing, we rejoice in knowing she is reunited with Olen and at peace in God’s embrace.
She is survived by her daughter Misty Buning of Katy, TX; daughter Michele McLendon and her husband James of Dallas, TX; and her cherished grandchildren Todd Buning and wife Bella, Jake Buning, Trey McLendon, and Nicole McLendon. She is also survived by her brother Mike Hardy and his wife Donna, and her sister Melanie Nakashima and husband Ron. Martha was preceded in death by her beloved husband Olen W. Moseley and her parents Sam and Edna Hardy.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, June 28, 2025, at Living Word Lutheran Church in Katy (3700 S. Mason Road). A reception will follow at a nearby location—details to be announced.
Martha’s life was a beautiful tapestry of love, laughter, creativity, and compassion. She will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
