The Home Depot is scheduled to open its new store in west Katy at 133 Cane Island Parkway on April 11th under the direction of Home Depot Store Manager Javonne Smith.

The local community is invited to the grand opening day, which will feature KODA 99.1 FM, food trucks, prizes, giveaways and more. The grand opening festivities kick off at 8 a.m. with food trucks starting at 11 a.m. Store personnel will also be awarding prizes through a Spin Wheel game, giving out hard hats for customers at the store entrance and distributing mystery gifts.

A ribbon cutting and community event was slated for the afternoon of Wednesday, April 10th, at press time for this story.

The new store location features:

· 106,270 square foot indoor space

· 28,216 square foot outside garden center

· One stop shop for power featuring a battery platform layout

· Tool rental center open from 6 a.m. to 10 p.m.

The only Home Depot location in Katy city limits, the company has already hired more than 127 employees and is looking to fill 17 open positions ahead of opening and the busy spring season. Each job at The Home Depot supports more than four additional jobs across the U.S., which is more than twice the retail average.
