Herbert Wesley Carew, born April 13, 1942, in Katy, Texas, was called home by our Lord in Heaven on Thursday, September 2, 2021.
Wes grew up in Baytown, Texas where his love for electronics began as a teenager. He graduated from Robert E. Lee High School in 1960 and joined the U.S. Navy shortly after graduation. He served on the USS Chivo, then the USS John C. Calhoun SBN 630 based in Charleston, SC. While in the Navy, he attended many training schools to learn Information Technology. He left the Navy in 1968 after the birth of his first child, traveling along the upper East Coast before settling in Fairchilds, Texas. Wes lived in Fairchilds for many years and was a member of the First Baptist Church of Richmond.
As an Eagle Scout, he influenced the lives of many young hearts serving as a Boy Scout leader. Throughout his professional career, Wes held various positions within the oil industry, employed by firms such as Honeywell, Baroid, Halliburton, Digicon, Syscom Delta, Western Geophysical, ABB, and his own company, Systems Integrated Systems. In 2007, he proudly obtained his Bachelor of Science in Computer Science degree from the University of Houston-Victoria, graduating Summa Cum Laude. He occupied his time providing ongoing consulting work, becoming a Master Gardener, raising bees, and locating family through Ancestry.com and building upon the vast family tree.
Wes had a strong faith and trust in God and was a blessing to many as a result of his unconditional love. He enjoyed sharing and teaching his immense knowledge in so many different subjects and desired to help whomever he could. As a result of his laid-back attitude, great sense of humor, drive to help others, and abundant love, he was cherished beyond measure and will be greatly missed by so many.
