Harrison named District MVP for second straight season
Cameryn Harrison was named the District 19-6A MVP for the second straight year after leading Katy to another district title and an area round appearance.
Harrison, Katy’s ace and one of the teams top hitters, led the way for Katy on the season, as the Tigers finished with a 31-6 record, including going 15-1 in district play. Katy freshman catcher Maddie Smith joined Harrison on the superlative list by being named district newcomer of the year.
Faith Piper was named the defensive player of the year in the district after a strong year at short stop for Cinco Ranch, which she also led off for. The Cougars finished the year second in district and also made it to the area round. Cinco Ranch finished the season 21-11 and 12-4 in district play. Mayde Creek’s Alexia Ruiz was named the offensive player of the year in the district after being a big part in the Rams bounce back season. Mayde Creek narrowly missed out of the playoffs, with a 7-7 district record. Mayde Creek’s Jill Voss was named the district’s coach of the year for her effort leading the Rams.
Cinco’s Chela Kovar and Mayde Creek’s Alyssa Gonzalez took home first team pitcher honors in the district for their efforts while Katy, Cinco Ranch and Tompkins led the way on the first team with four overall selections each.
