In order to provide additional detention for the Addicks Reservoir Watershed, Harris County is Spending a little more than $4 million in a joint project between Harris County Precinct 3 – Commissioner Steve Raddack’s precinct which includes the Katy area – and the Harris County Flood control district, said Eric Heppen, the project manager overseeing the construction.

“”There are no roads being constructed as part of this project, Heppen said, “The project is being overseen by the road and bridge group.”

The project’s original budget is funded by both county entities and is currently on-budget. It is expected to add about 34 acres of surface area to the manmade lake which will add an additional 238 acre feet of detention capacity in the lake.

“The project is currently on-schedule and is anticipated to be completed in June of 2020, (weather permitting),” Heppen said.
