Freeman High School made a statement in its first district game of its inaugural varsity football season, defeating South Houston High School 49-0 Friday night and moving to 1-0 in district play.

The shutout marks an important early milestone for the first-year varsity program under Head Coach Eric Robinson, as the Golden Eagles begin their first journey through district competition.

With their first district victory secured, Freeman will look to build on the momentum when the Golden Eagles face Iowa Colony on September 17 at 7 p.m. at Rhodes Stadium.
